Gregg Kovacevich
Gregg Kovacevich currently serves as Assistant City Attorney for the City of El Segundo and General Counsel to the El Segundo Senior Housing Board (since 2004) . He served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Malibu from 2002 to April 2014, where he provided counsel to the City's Planning Commission and the City's Planning Department. He also served at various times as Assistant City Attorney for Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, West Hollywood, Lomita, Diamond Bar and Rolling Hills. Mr. Kovacevich served as General Counsel to Rossmoor Community Services District Board from 2013 to 2014; he was an assistant city attorney in Port Hueneme until 2017.
Mr. Kovacevich has an active mandamus and appellate litigation practice. Mr. Kovacevich has defended multiple cities including West Hollywood, Malibu, Hermosa Beach, Port Hueneme, San Buenaventura and Manhattan Beach in writ litigation involving CEQA, land use, Brown Act and other matters in approximately 40 writ trial actions and has served as counsel for parties or amicus curiae in nineteen appellate cases. His published cases, which demonstrate his skills in analyzing complex issues and formulating persuasive, logical arguments, include the following: City of Malibu v. California Coastal Commission (2012) 206 Cal.App.4th 549; Santa Monica Baykeeper v. City of Malibu (2011) 193 Cal.App.4th 1538; City of Port Hueneme v. Oxnard Harbor Dist. (2007) 146 Cal.App.4th 511; Trancas Property Owners Assn. v. City of Malibu (2006) 138 Cal.App.4th 172; and City of Malibu v. California Coastal Com'n (2004) 121 Cal.App.4th 989. His amicus briefs include World Wide Rush, LLC v. City of Los Angeles (9th Cir. 2010) 606 F.3d 676; and Marine Forests v. California Coastal Commission (2005) 36 Cal.4th 1104.
Gregg is also an avid dog lover, in case that is not obvious from the picture!
